The Mission Behind My Materials
Hi, I’m Sindhu Velu, the founder and owner of ABA Universal. With 6 to 8 years of experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum, I’ve seen firsthand how important representation is for families. During my 5.5 years as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), I noticed a lack of diversity among staff, and I realized how much it mattered to the families I worked with.
I’ve had parents open up their hours just so I could work with their child. For these families, seeing a woman of color was enough to give them confidence and a sense of security. That spoke volumes to me and showed me the importance of creating tools that are culturally sensitive and reflective of the diverse families we serve.
As a minority woman who has been given the honor of working with your family, I understand the unique dynamics and challenges that can come with having a family member who is different. My goal is to make sure every family feels seen, heard, and understood. I am dedicated to removing language and cultural barriers to make this journey smoother and more empowering for you all.
